Hi Carli,
Yeah, I kind of had the same problem with my parents. And I was one of those rotton preachers kids!!! You think you've got it rough?!?!?!?!
Actually, I have to say, my parents really didn't say too much about it. And I was living at home during my early 20's, after my divorce, and they were taking care of my son.
Hope things are going a little better for you at this point.

I spend 3/4 of my time looking for stuff I know I just had in my hand earlier today---Or something I know I saw somewhere in this house yesterday! I make a shopping list, then forget to take the list, and have no recollection of what was on it.
So......................tell me about the Brain Fitness deal!

I didn't know there was a name for it.............!
Since the problem really is in the brain, maybe that would explain a lot of other things............................LOL
Thanks for looking that up for me.
BTW, is memory a field you work in, or studying, or just an area of interest? Just curious!

Hi Carli,
I remember those days..........................
I used to do that, too. Party, party, go to school, party some more, go to work, party all night til almost daylight, 2-3 hours of sleep, and back to school, then to work, then party all night again. I maintained that for about a year---then I hit burn-out! I was about 23 at the time. But after I got over the burn-out, I went right back to it, although on a somewhat lighter schedule! I still liked to party up to my late 30's, even some into my 40's.
Now I'm old.....I still enjoy a few cocktails in the evening, but they just make me tired, then I want to go to bed. My husband and I still enjoy going out dancing once in awhile, but my arthritis gets even with me for 2-3 days afterwards.
So enjoy it while you're still young enough to enjoy it! 'Cuz one of these days you'll be too tired to do it anymore!
Have a really great evening--but always remember, school work is the most important thing. Keep up the grades so you can make lots of money when you get out, so you can keep on partying!! hehe!

Actually, I read something some years back, that the inability to remember faces of even people you know fairly well, is related to some kind of lesions in a specific area of the brain. I think I read it in a Dear Abby, or Ann Landers column--but can't remember for sure.

I'm fairly good with names and many other details. I can't remember faces! You could pull medical files from the doctor I last worked for nearly 8 years ago. Give me a name. 80% of the time I can tell you not only what their medical conditions were, but probably name some of the medications and even dosages the were recieving. I could tell you things about their personal life, etc. But most of them I would not recognize if they walked up to me on the street. Even then, half the time, I was so unsure, I had to look at the sign-in sheet to know who they were--and most of our patients were in every single month, like clockwork!
I've always had a joke that I can't remember what my huband looks like if he goes out of town a few days---maybe a little extreme--but not that far off, either.
I spent many years in sales and big-ticket retail--this 'not remembering faces' was a real handicap! I sold RV's for about 10 years--I could spend half a day showing a couple $50-70,000 motorhomes. When they came back the next day to finalize the sale, I usually didn't recognize them! Can't tell you how many times one of the other salespeople would say, "Hey, Kathi, there's your customer coming back." But you could pull out one of my lead cards, give me a name, and I could tell you what they were looking for, what they had to trade, several things about their personal life or situation.........But couldn't recognize them when they came through the door. LOL

Jen, Have a GREAT Weekend!
It'll all work out. I know it's hard, but you have many people praying for you and your mom, and offering up best wishes.
Yeah, that's the hard way to lose weight, but you have to make yourself eat at least a little bit, 4-5 times a day. ( Okay, I need to tell myself that, too...LOL)
Best wishes, prayers, and I'll be back in touch soon!

You're right Nana, that is a big part of the problem. There is a lot of other factors involved, as well.
The AMA. FDA, Drug Manufacturers, and Big Insurance are all in cahoots. They all work together to help each other gain big profits. Well....the FDA isn't about profits, however, the drug companies provide their funding, so they have no motivation to do the right thing, when it comes to approving bad medicine--of which there have been a multitude in the past several years!!!
In addition, the above named entities are continuously trying to find ways to eliminate or restrict the OTC sale of supplements, vitamins, herbal remedies, etc. As these products are becoming more and more popular among the general public, they are desperate to figure out a way to cut off our access to them. The 'natural' methods are getting into their pockets big time!
